Li Auto L6 hits 400,000 sales in two years — a cheaper Porsche Cayenne rival that barely needs fuel

Li Auto has announced that cumulative deliveries of its extended-range hybrid crossover Li L6 have surpassed 400,000 units. The model was unveiled on April 18, 2024, with the first vehicles reaching customers on April 24 — meaning the milestone took roughly two years and four months to achieve.

The manufacturer claims the L6 is the fastest-selling extended-range vehicle priced above 200,000 yuan to cross the 400,000-delivery mark. In July, the company introduced an updated version of the model offered in a single trim priced at 249,800 yuan.

In terms of dimensions (4,935 mm in length), the Li Auto L6 sits in the same class as the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne, but undercuts both on price while adding hybrid capability. The refreshed model features a redesigned exterior and interior, with the traction battery capacity increased to 51 kWh. Pure electric range per the CLTC cycle reaches 300 km, so daily commutes can be done without burning a drop of fuel. Standard equipment now includes Li Auto's own 5-nm intelligent control chip, the Mach M100.

For an additional 30,000 yuan, buyers can opt for a package that adds two computing chips and four lidar units, enhancing the advanced driver assistance suite. The battery supports fast charging from 20% to 80% in just 12 minutes. Customers who place orders before August 31 are eligible for early-bird bonuses worth up to 28,000 yuan in total.

The L6's rapid sales trajectory underscores strong demand in China for affordable electrified SUVs that combine premium features with the practicality of a range extender, positioning it as a compelling alternative to established luxury models at a fraction of the price.
