Leaked League of Legends investor pitch reveals 6v6, city map, and Sion with a beard

League of Legends content creator Necrit has unearthed the original investor pitch for what would become one of the world's most popular games — back when it was called Onslaught: War of the Immortals and looked almost nothing like the final product. The materials, provided by Riot Games' Paul "Pabro" Bellezza, include video footage, design documents for several champions, a lore breakdown, and screenshots. While some elements had leaked before, this is the most complete look at the game's earliest form.

Instead of Summoner's Rift, the map was a cartoonish cityscape split into two realms: Order and Chaos. Players would control customizable immortals who could be temporarily summoned during climactic moments, and certain heroes were exclusive to one faction — an allegiance players had to declare at the start. The game mode was 6v6, not 5v5.

Champion designs were radically different. Lee Sin, then called Xizun, had a passive ability described as "Built like a brick wall on roids." Sion sported a beard. The story revolved around "an antichrist of sorts." Annie, Soraka, and other familiar names were present, but in unrecognizable forms. Riot has confirmed the authenticity of the pitch materials. Necrit's full breakdown video is available on his YouTube channel.
