KDE Plasma 6.8 improves remote desktop and warns about unavailable printers

The October release of the KDE Plasma 6.8 desktop will bring a number of notable interface improvements and fixes. Developers continue their active work on the new version, and the latest issue of the weekly This Week in Plasma report reveals details of recent changes.

One key addition concerns printing: if a user tries to send a document to a printer that is currently unavailable, the system will now show a notification about it. Previously, such an operation silently failed, which could be confusing.

Plasma 6.8 also refines the built-in remote desktop server. A bug that caused some clients to see a black screen instead of the image has been fixed. Additionally, the server's performance on poor network connections has been optimized—latency should be lower and throughput higher.

The taskbar has also seen changes: window thumbnails now have neater padding around labels positioned at the top. The interface for creating new user accounts has become clearer, with restrictions on usernames and passwords displayed more understandably.
