iPhone 18 Pro Max battery leaks at 5567 mAh — up to 12% boost over predecessor

Photos of the iPhone 18 Pro Max battery have surfaced online, confirming previously rumored capacity figures. The images, shared by a Chinese source, show a label reading 5391 mAh — this is the unit for the version with a physical SIM card, which will be sold in China. The eSIM-only model is expected to pack a 5567 mAh cell, which is 176 mAh more.

The difference between the versions comes down to freed-up internal space: dropping the physical SIM tray allows Apple to enlarge the battery. Notably, initial rumors cited different numbers — 5425 mAh for the eSIM variant and 5235 mAh for the physical SIM model — but later data from regulatory databases and supply chains pointed to 5567 mAh and 5391 mAh respectively.

The same source also detailed the iPhone 18 Pro. The eSIM version will get a 4288 mAh battery, while the physical SIM variant will have 4056 mAh. That means the capacity increase over the iPhone 17 Pro is just 1–2%, whereas the iPhone 18 Pro Max sees a more substantial gain of 9–12% depending on the version.

The new lineup is expected to be unveiled next month. Alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple is rumored to introduce an iPhone Ultra model as well. So far, the picture looks less like a revolutionary leap and more like targeted refinement: engineers are trying to squeeze the most out of available space, but the results vary across models.

The battery has been a focus of attention for months, as capacity figures began appearing in Asian supply chains and regulator filings. Now, photos of the actual component lend weight to those earlier numbers, though final specs will only be confirmed at the official announcement.
