Genki Manta Hits $400K on Kickstarter in One Day — $279 Controller with Built-in Display

Genki, the accessory maker previously known for its Nintendo Switch 2 mockups, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Genki Manta — a premium controller that aims to rival the Steam Controller and pro-grade gamepads from SCUF and Xbox Elite. The campaign blew past its $100,000 goal within hours, reaching $404,586 at the time of writing.

The Manta's standout feature is a built-in display and a dedicated operating system. This allows users to adjust controller settings — such as button mapping, trigger sensitivity, and gyro calibration — directly on the device, without needing a PC or smartphone app. Genki says this makes the controller truly self-contained for on-the-go adjustments.

On the hardware side, the Manta offers adjustable triggers with three distinct modes: a digital click for rapid-fire, a short-throw mode for faster actuation, and full analog travel for racing or flight sims. It also includes four programmable back buttons, a swappable D-pad, and full gyroscope support. The controller is compatible with PC, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Switch 2.

Pricing is the most controversial aspect. The cheapest "Super Early Bird" tier is set at $189, while the final retail price is expected to be $279. That puts it well above the $199 Razer Wolverine V2 Pro and the standard Xbox Elite Series 2. Genki defends the price by pointing to the integrated display, custom OS, and build quality.

Shipments for early backers are scheduled to begin in February 2027, assuming the production timeline holds. The campaign still has 28 days remaining, and Genki has hinted at stretch goals that could add additional features.
