Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches on Switch 2 at $69.99 with time-travel story

Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have announced Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the next mainline entry in the tactical RPG series and the first since Engage in 2023. The game launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026. In the US, the digital version will cost $69.99, the physical copy $79.99, and the Dagdan Collection edition is priced at $119.99, including a SteelBook case, art cards, a world map, and an art book.

The story takes place in the divine Dagdan Empire, where the capital Dagsion hosts the Heroic Games, a tournament held in honor of the founding king Dagda. Ruler Solei promises to grant one wish to the ultimate winner. The plot revolves around four contenders: Cai seeks to free his imprisoned father, Dietrich enters after surviving a monster attack, Theodora fights to restore her goddess's honor and protect the city of Saramis, and Leda hunts for the person who murdered her father.

Five years after the games, the demon god Balor returns and threatens to destroy the empire. The four heroes vanish, prompting the progenitor goddess Sothis to task the player with preventing the end of the world. The core premise hinges on the power of the goddess Fortuna, which allows the heroes to travel through time.

Gameplay retains the series' signature grid-based, turn-based battles, but the campaign is built around four separate storylines that can be played individually and revisited through time-travel mechanics. Additional features include a city hub, a world map with time-sensitive travel, explorable dungeons, class exams, recruitment systems, and a new rewind mechanic called Fortuna's Blessing.
