Fairphone 6+ launches in the US: 12 user-replaceable parts and updates until 2033

Fairphone has announced the Fairphone 6+, a smartphone that continues the company's focus on repairability. The device allows users to replace up to 12 components on their own using just a screwdriver, including the battery, display, cameras, and USB-C port.

The Fairphone 6+ features a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display and is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The battery capacity is 4415 mAh, and the phone supports 30 W wired charging. The rear camera system includes a 50 MP main sensor and a 13 MP ultrawide module, while the front-facing camera is 32 MP.

Fairphone promises to deliver software updates for the device through 2033, including at least six major Android version upgrades. The previous model received a perfect repairability score of 10 from iFixit.

The Fairphone 6+ marks the company's first smartphone officially sold in the United States, available directly through Fairphone's website and Amazon. Previously, Fairphone devices were brought to the US by a local company called Murena, which shipped them with /e/OS — a custom Android build without Google services — instead of the standard Android. The new model runs a standard version of Android out of the box.

In the US, the Fairphone 6+ is priced at $649. In the United Kingdom, it costs £569, and in Europe, the price is set at €649.
