Elden Ring on Switch 2 Runs at Stable 30 FPS in Docked Mode — A Good Sign for The Duskbloods

FromSoftware originally planned to launch Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2 last year, but the studio led by Hidetaka Miyazaki ultimately decided to delay the Tarnished Edition to August 28 rather than compromise on the port's quality. New footage suggests this was the right call, as the current build shows a significant improvement over last year's version, which also bodes well for the upcoming game The Duskbloods.
Japanese outlets such as Famitsu and Denfaminico Gamer shared fresh footage of Elden Ring running on Switch 2 in both docked and handheld modes. In docked mode, the game achieves a stable 30 frames per second with no noticeable stuttering, even during intense boss fights. While 30 FPS is not ideal for an action RPG, FromSoftware fans have endured far worse — Bloodborne on PlayStation 4 suffered from severe frame pacing issues that heavily impacted the experience.
In handheld mode, the game performs reasonably well, though the footage shows some frame rate drops during boss encounters. With ten days left until release, there is still a chance these issues could be smoothed out before launch.
The solid performance of Elden Ring on Switch 2 is a promising indicator for The Duskbloods, FromSoftware's next title. Although the studio has created some of the best action RPGs of recent years, its technical capabilities have never been cutting-edge. The stable performance on Switch 2's relatively modest hardware demonstrates that the team can effectively adapt its games to different platforms without sacrificing quality, suggesting The Duskbloods could run smoothly on the console as well.
