CodeSecCon unites 1,500+ devs and security pros to fix code flaws and safely adopt AI

On July 24, the virtual CodeSecCon conference brought together over 1,500 registered attendees, uniting software developers and cybersecurity professionals to reshape how applications are built, secured, and maintained. The event focused on the most pressing challenges in software security, aiming to foster a DevSecOps culture that bridges the gap between security and development teams.

The conference agenda covered seven key sessions designed to empower attendees to develop secure applications, reduce software vulnerabilities, and safely integrate artificial intelligence into their workflows while minimizing the risk of sensitive data exposure. Participants learned best practices for secure coding, innovative tools and techniques for risk minimization, and methods to enhance collaboration between traditionally siloed teams.

The program kicked off with Joseph Frisk, CISO of Dine Brands, and Gareth Davies, Chief Product Officer at Auth0, presenting "From Security Bottleneck to Revenue Growth Engine." They discussed how security departments can transform from being perceived as obstacles into drivers of business growth. Mike McGuire, Product Marketing Manager at Wiz, followed with "Closing the Security Gap in Agentic Development," addressing vulnerabilities in agent-based software development approaches.

Christina DePinto, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Datadog, delivered "The Cloud-Powered Enterprise: Securing Your Cloud," focusing on protecting cloud-native corporate environments. Independent software developer Haim Michael presented "Hardening WordPress: Practical Security Lessons from Real Incidents," sharing real-world case studies and actionable advice for WordPress security.

Chris Bao, Senior Software Engineer at Schlumberger, discussed "AI Gateway as a Security Control Plane: Content, Access, and Operational Controls," exploring how AI gateways can serve as centralized security management points. Khushboo Bhatia, AI & Data Solution Architect at Google, addressed "Securing Agent Runtimes, Preventing Jailbreaks, and Stopping Over-Permissioned Code," covering critical aspects of AI agent security. The conference concluded with a session on hardening AI coding agents, completing the comprehensive security-focused agenda.
