Asus ProArt PZ14 OLED screen drops graininess thanks to BOE panel

OLED displays have long been a standard across many devices, delivering rich colors, deep blacks, high contrast, and fast response times. But adding a touch layer often introduces a grainy picture on brighter content, similar to the effect of a matte IPS panel. Depending on the model, this flaw varies in visibility and can be distracting during use.
The panel supplier plays a key role here. The issue was especially common on older Samsung OLED screens, though Samsung has since fixed it in its own Galaxy Book lineup. Asus devices, however, kept showing the defect, as seen in the recent review of the ProArt PX13, which still uses an older Samsung panel.
The new Asus ProArt PZ14, a tablet-convertible with a 14-inch OLED touchscreen, takes a different approach. Instead of Samsung, the company opted for a BOE panel, and the graininess is completely gone despite the touch layer. The refresh rate is 144 Hz, and image quality is described as impressive.
The display retains excellent color profiles for sRGB and P3. The only downside remains PWM brightness control: while the frequency is high at 720 Hz, the amplitude reaches 75%, which could bother users sensitive to flickering. A full panel analysis is available in the device's detailed review.
