Arctic cuts US prices across entire lineup after $166 billion tariff refunds

PC cooling maker Arctic has temporarily discounted its entire US product lineup until its tariff refund runs out. The company stands out as a rare exception while Apple, Sony, and Nintendo hold back from compensating customers for price hikes triggered by the tariffs introduced last year.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration overstepped its authority when imposing the duties, leaving companies owed an estimated $166 billion in combined refunds. The government has paid out roughly half of that amount so far. Tariffs on several Asian countries critical to electronics manufacturing exceeded 25%, while duties on Chinese imports at times climbed above 100%.

Arctic explained in posts on YouTube and its website that it absorbed the steep 2025 tariffs for as long as possible before raising prices on select products. Now the company has lowered prices across its entire US catalog, not just the items affected by the duties.

Quarterly reports from Sony and Apple, both of which raised prices after the tariffs, already reflect the impact of the refunds. Apple is expected to receive around $2.2 billion, but plans to reinvest the funds in domestic manufacturing — the original goal of the tariffs. Nintendo is aggressively fighting customer lawsuits, arguing it has no legal obligation to reimburse people who voluntarily paid higher prices. Sony, among more than 100 companies facing similar lawsuits, has not disclosed its plans. Amazon has confirmed it will compensate customers in limited cases without providing further details.

Beyond rolling back prices, Arctic has pledged to invest in US-based technology education and grassroots organizations by donating hardware and offering technical support. Walmart and BJ's have likewise promised to lower prices.
