Apple's M6 MacBook Pro and refreshed iMacs likely to debut in October, per Bloomberg

Apple is expected to unveil a new MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip and refreshed iMacs in October, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The journalist points to the company's typical release schedule, with announcements usually happening that month and sales ramping up toward year-end.

The base MacBook Pro will feature a 14-inch display and run on the M6 processor. This model is slated to arrive ahead of high-end versions with OLED screens and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are planned for late this year through early 2027. Gurman previously reported that Apple has been testing the laptops with macOS 27.1, scheduled for public release at the end of October.

As for the iMac, the update concerns the 24-inch model, which will swap the current M4 for an M5 or M6 chip. No major design changes are expected. Apple is also developing an iMac with an OLED display, but that launch is several years away.

The October announcement thus serves as an interim step: Apple will refresh accessible models, while cutting-edge features like OLED and more powerful processors arrive later. Buyers prioritizing top performance may want to hold off for the higher-tier MacBook Pro variants.
