Vibe coding appears in 35% of developer job postings — study of 12,000 vacancies

Nearly one in three developer job postings now mentions vibe coding, as working with AI tools has become an industry standard. That is the conclusion reached by analysts at IT_One, who examined about 12,000 vacancy listings across various software development fields.
Requirements for vibe coding knowledge were most often directed at candidates for Data Engineer, Data Scientist, ML Engineer, and Systems Analyst positions. Among programming languages, Python was the undisputed leader in the context of AI development, with Java taking second place.
Terminology in the market has not yet settled: in most vacancies, employers write "AI development" instead of "vibe coding" or use related concepts such as ML or prompt engineering in a development context. The most frequently cited requirements include familiarity with tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, and Claude, as well as skills in verifying and validating AI-generated code.
Less common are requests for the ability to craft effective prompts for automated code generation, understanding the limitations of language models, and integrating AI into workflows. Rarely do employers ask for skills in AI-assisted debugging, generating unit tests and test cases, or building and configuring AI agents for automation — areas analysts describe as emerging trends.
Additionally, IT_One surveyed executives at companies engaged in internal development. Such organizations most often use or plan to use AI for writing and refactoring code, automating routine tasks, generating tests, and finding bugs. Other tasks include producing documentation and SQL queries, requirements analysis, candidate screening, and automating code review.
Employees at these companies have expressed interest in professional development in prompt engineering, as well as in learning methods for ensuring data security and confidentiality when interacting with AI and assessing the quality of AI solutions.
