Ukraine’s Fire Point builds €150M rocket fuel plant in Denmark to shield production from Russian strikes

Ukrainian defense company Fire Point is building a plant in Denmark to produce and cast solid rocket fuel and manufacture rocket engine components. The facility is intended to become a dedicated production base for Ukraine's missile program, with launch scheduled by the end of 2027. The project's estimated cost has already exceeded €150 million, making it the first Ukrainian chemical rocket plant on NATO territory. The construction is handled by Fire Point's Danish subsidiary, Fire Point Rocket Technology.

According to Iryna Terekh, CEO and CTO of Fire Point, the primary goal is to create a secure site that can meet the needs of Ukraine's missile program, where solid rocket fuel production is a critical bottleneck. Solid propellant is essential for rocket engines — its chemical reaction generates the thrust that powers flight. The company says that Ukraine's existing production capacities are constantly under attack and severely limited by security concerns. The Danish plant is designed to duplicate and expand those capabilities.

"The Russians are actively hunting for chemical plants in Ukraine and trying to bomb them. Denmark offered a safe location where we can base our capacities and serve not only Ukrainian but also European needs," Terekh explained.

In addition to fuel, Fire Point plans to produce rocket engine components and conduct tests in Denmark. The company also intends to export its products to European partners. In the longer term, the plant could be expanded to manufacture other types of munitions. The project is seen as a strategic move to secure a stable supply of critical missile components away from the front line and continuous Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian industrial infrastructure.
