Uber Eats to launch drone deliveries with Zipline in 2026, targeting 1M daily orders

Uber has announced a partnership with drone developer Zipline to deliver orders from its Uber Eats service. The first flights are scheduled to begin by the end of 2026.

Initially, the service will be available in several U.S. cities where Zipline already has an operational presence. These include Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The companies plan to expand the service to dozens more cities over time.

Uber has set a goal of handling up to 1 million drone deliveries per day by the end of 2029. To achieve this, the company will integrate its platform and order network with Zipline's drone fleet. Uber has also made an investment in the American drone developer; the amount of the investment has not been disclosed.

According to the companies, Zipline has already completed more than 2.7 million deliveries, including medical supplies and food items. Uber has prior experience with drone delivery: in 2025, it partnered with Flytrex for Uber Eats deliveries. Zipline has previously collaborated with Walmart and Chipotle.
