Prime Gaming adds Steelrising and eight more free PC games for August
Amazon Luna, the service formerly known as Prime Gaming, has unveiled its latest wave of free games for Amazon Prime members. August brings nine titles that can be added to a PC library at no extra cost, though the announcement arrived later in the month than usual. As a result, several games are already available to claim right now.
The standout addition is Steelrising, an action RPG from developer Spiders. This Souls-like adventure is set in an alternate-history version of the French Revolution, where King Louis XVI has unleashed an army of clockwork automatons to crush the rebellion. Players take on the role of one such mechanical warrior, fighting through the streets of Paris against the king's forces and other deadly machines.
Beyond the headline title, the lineup includes a solid selection of indie games. Clash: Artifacts of Chaos is an action-adventure with a distinctive art style and brutal hand-to-hand combat. Havendock is a relaxing city-builder where players manage a floating settlement. Airship: Kingdoms Adrift offers real-time tactics with customizable airships and crew management. Each of these brings something different, giving subscribers a variety of genres to explore this month.
Five games are already live as of August 6. Right and Down, a puzzle game, and Hiveswap Friendsim, a visual novel set in the Homestuck universe, are both available through GOG. The remaining titles will roll out over the next few weeks. On August 13, two more games arrive: the escape-room puzzle Pyramids and Aliens: Escape Room via GOG, and two Epic Games Store releases — Airship: Kingdoms Adrift and Steelrising. August 20 brings Royal Romances: Forbidden Magic, a romantic visual novel, and Spray Paint Simulator, which lets players create street art in a virtual city; both will be available through the Amazon Games App. The final wave lands on August 27 with Havendock and Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, also via the Amazon Games App.
All nine games are PC titles, and claiming them requires an active Amazon Prime subscription. As with previous monthly drops, once a game is claimed, it stays in the player's library permanently. This marks another substantial addition to Prime Gaming's catalog, which has been steadily growing through similar promotions throughout the year. The late announcement means subscribers can immediately grab a good portion of the August lineup without waiting, making this month's offering particularly convenient for those who check in regularly.
