MTS boosts LTE speeds near Ural marble quarry by more than 25%

MTS has reported a more than 25% increase in mobile internet speeds near a major white marble deposit in the Chelyabinsk region. The improvement covers the village of Koyelga in the Yetkulsky district, where the stone extraction enterprise is located, as well as surrounding industrial sites and access roads to the settlement.

To expand network capacity, technical specialists launched additional LTE-900 and LTE-2600 frequency bands in the area. The company notes that high-speed internet access creates conditions for deploying digital services at the mining enterprise and other facilities in Koyelga. These include solutions based on the Internet of Things that enable automated control of personnel and vehicle access, monitoring of occupational safety compliance, and remote tracking of equipment condition. This helps predict potential failures and reduce downtime on production lines.

Alexey Bykov, director of MTS in the Chelyabinsk region, emphasized that telecom infrastructure development remains a key part of the digital transformation of industry in the Southern Urals. According to him, reliable LTE internet is of strategic importance for industrial facilities as it serves as a foundation for implementing intelligent management and safety systems.

The improved connection quality has already been appreciated not only by local residents but also by tourists. Koyelga attracts visitors from across the region year-round with the history of its Cossack settlement and the marble quarry visible from a viewing platform. Thanks to faster internet, subscribers can share photos and videos during trips, use online maps, and access virtual guides to the village.
