Minimal Phone 2 trades e-ink for OLED, keeps keyboard, starts at $600

Minimal has unveiled the Minimal Phone 2, a smartphone that keeps its signature physical keyboard but completely rethinks the hardware. Unlike its predecessor, the new model drops electronic ink in favor of a full OLED display.

The screen measures 3.92 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1240 pixels and a 90 Hz refresh rate. A 20-megapixel camera sits on the front for selfies, while the rear houses a 50-megapixel sensor with an F/1.8 aperture lens.

Under the hood, the device runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset. The top configuration offers 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, though more affordable variants are also available. A 3000 mAh battery supports 27 W wired and 15 W wireless charging. The phone operates on Android Minimal OS.

Connectivity and features include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, stereo speakers, dual microphones, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Both physical SIM and eSIM are supported.

Pricing starts at $600 for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The 8/512 GB version costs $675, while the top-tier Founder's Edition with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage is priced at $900.
