MAX opens API for third-party clients: developers get code and ban protection

The MAX messenger has launched a developer support program and opened its API, enabling the creation of alternative client applications built on the service. The initiative arrives amid active discussions about restricting children's access to social networks and messengers, signaling the platform's long-term ecosystem development.

Access to the program is not open to everyone. Priority goes to IT companies from Russia and friendly countries with experience in large-scale projects that meet information security requirements. Applications are accepted through a dedicated portal, dev.max.ru, separate from the main service website.

Participants are promised a broad toolkit: technical documentation, a design system, the official client's source code, and a token for connecting to MAX's infrastructure. Developers thus receive a ready-made foundation for building their own solutions without spending resources on basic mechanisms.

Access to ready-made user registration and fraud protection systems is also provided. These components are already implemented on the platform side, so teams do not need to build them from scratch.

A mandatory participation requirement is compliance with secure development standards: modern encryption, regular code audits, and proof of technical expertise. This is intended to protect the ecosystem from unreliable projects.

The API opening is mentioned in the context of risks associated with third-party clients: Telegram clones have previously been found to be more dangerous than the original and were not safe to install on a smartphone.
