iPhone Ultra's Selfie Cameras Could Share One Corner of the Chassis

Screen protectors for the upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra have surfaced, offering new clues about the placement of the device's front-facing cameras. According to the leaked accessories, both cameras — one on the outer display and one on the inner display — may be located in the same corner of the same half, with one facing outward and the other inward.

Earlier dummy units suggested a centered cutout at the top edge of the outer screen, while the camera for the inner display sat in the far top-left corner. That asymmetry seemed uncharacteristic of Apple's design language. The new screen protector images, published today, show a camera cutout in the top-right corner of the outer display when the device is folded shut.

Taken together, the two leaks could point to Apple placing both selfie cameras in a single corner zone. Two slightly offset lenses would let the company confine the cutouts and camera modules to one area of a 4.5mm-thick chassis, rather than spreading them across different spots. For a device where internal space is at a premium, such an arrangement would make sense.

It's worth noting that accessory makers typically rely on leaked CAD files of sometimes questionable accuracy, so a pair of screen protectors can't be taken as definitive proof of the final design. This interpretation also assumes the dummy iPhone Ultra units had one camera placement correct (the top-left inner camera) and one wrong (the centered outer camera). Even so, side-by-side placement in a single corner seems like a plausible solution.

The definitive answer will only come with the official announcement of the device.
