Google’s Find Hub on Wear OS now locates people — but there’s no map on your wrist

Google has rolled out an update to its Find Hub app for Wear OS, introducing a "Find people" feature that lets you track other users from your watch. Previously, the app only supported finding lost devices.

The new "Find people" icon uses a green radar-like design consistent with the rest of Find Hub's interface. Tapping it opens a list of "People" who "Can see your location," along with a note indicating how long they have been able to do so.

When you open a specific contact's page, you might expect to see a map showing their location on your watch screen. However, the app provides no visual map or descriptive information. Instead, Google simply states that the person "Can see your location until you turn off" sharing, and offers a link that says "View their location on phone."

It remains unclear whether this is the intended behavior or if a server-side update is missing that would add a basic map view on the watch, similar to how the device-finding feature works.

Additionally, a bug appears when tapping the "Settings" button on the main screen: it launches Google Play services in full-screen mode, rather than opening the settings menu within Find Hub.

The update, version 1.0.429.0, is rolling out via the Play Store as of this morning.

Google has been expanding the Find Hub ecosystem recently. The company announced the $29 Pixel Tag, set to launch in November with Ultra-Wideband support, and the Pixel Tag adopts a bold strategy in a market crowded with AirTag alternatives. The app also recently gained the ability to remove old Bluetooth headphones and earbuds from the device list.
