Galaxy Z Fold 8 exploded while charging on its fifth night — store denies refund

A brand-new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, priced at around 140,000 rubles, caught fire during overnight charging less than a week after purchase, according to the Telegram channel SHOT.
The foldable smartphone was bought as a gift at a store in Moscow's Gorbushkin Dvor electronics market. According to the report, the device worked without any issues for the first four days. On the fifth night, the owner woke up to a loud bang. No fire spread in the room, and no one was injured.
The next day, the buyer approached the seller demanding a full refund. The store, however, refused to classify the incident as a warranty case and declined to return the money. The owner now plans to pursue legal action to recover the cost of the device.
The exact cause of the Galaxy Z Fold 8's ignition remains unknown. It is unclear whether the incident was caused by a battery defect, a faulty charger, physical damage to the smartphone, improper usage conditions, or other factors. Samsung has not yet commented on the situation.
