Celebrate World Photography Day: solve a free jigsaw puzzle of a seabird shot on the Sony A1 II

To mark World Photography Day, a former editor of Canon's professional photography website has turned a favorite nature photo into a free virtual jigsaw puzzle. The puzzle is available to play online, and the author warns that completing the "Hard" level qualifies you as a puzzle master.

The editor, who has been celebrating World Photography Day for nearly a decade, decided this year to spotlight a photo by colleague Nikita Achanta instead of interviewing professional photographers from around the world. He selected her image of a seabird soaring above golden-tinted water, describing it as "ethereal-looking." The photo was captured on the Sony A1 II, one of the best cameras on the market.

The author explains that the light in the photo transforms the subject: sunlight gently kisses the gull's head and wing tip, highlighting the softness of its feathers and the graceful arc of its wings. The same sunlight turns the river's ripples into "liquid gold." He praises the composition, noting that the bird is positioned exactly where the river changes from blue to gold, making it seem as if the gull is painting the water with its feathers. The combination of light and composition, he says, gives the image a magical, ethereal quality.

The puzzle is free to play, and the author encourages everyone to try it, especially nature photography enthusiasts. He also hints that the photo's details—such as the subtle feather textures and the golden reflections—make the puzzle challenging yet rewarding.
